The Pilgrim’s Journey

Working with an Individual or Family

In our modern culture, conflicts between a person and a place can occur quickly and even accidentally, and can have a lingering effect that impacts the person in other areas of his or her life. With the help of Ceremonial PlaceMaking and re-storying a place, a person can begin to overcome and let go of lingering traumas, wounds and memories around a place. For instance, the public place where a personal crime occurred, or the scene of an accident.

Sometimes a place significant for the entire family may call for a ceremony as with an unexpected death in the home. Re-shifting the energy and story of the family home is  also possible when selling a family home, especially one that has been passed down through generations, marks an occasion for family members to come together, celebrate the past and honor the new vision.

We support these “pilgrims of place” as follows:

  1. Discover the imprint of a place by assessing everything from its physical characteristics and terrain to its spiritual, metaphorical and psychic story. This part of our work allows us to determine what needs to be released in order to shift the energy and begin the process.
  2. Release the old story from both the individual and the place, and re-align place to its place-specific intelligence.
  3. One on-site follow-up.
  4. One telephone follow-up.

"A women painfully witnessed a man on the ground after he had hung himself at a local park. The women was very distraught, had intrusive visual memories, and avoided the park after seeing this. With Maila Davenport's amazing professional guidance, clarity and focus, Maila and I co-facilitated an extraction, clearing and reconnection with the woman. The three of us met at dawn and had the ceremony at the site. Maila moved out the pieces that where no longer serving her, or the man, or the park. There was a deep peace, calm and connection after our work." -- P. Smith
